The “KROK” Studio was founded by Yuriy Vsevolodovych Ivanov and Svitlana Yakivna Ivanova in October 1984. Since then, over 4,000 children have trained at the studio.
In 2003, the studio was awarded the honorary title of “People’s Art Collective”.
Students of the studio regularly participate in international film festivals, where their animated films compete on equal terms with films by adult directors and often surpass them.
Having gained extensive festival experience, the leaders of “KROK” Studio came up with the idea of creating their own children’s animation festival, inviting children from around the world to present their best cinematic works.
- 1987 – Kyiv, the first festival “KROK-1”.
- 1990 – “KROK-2”.
- 1992 – “KROK-3”.
- 1998 – “KROK-4”.
- 1999 – “KROK-5”.
Over the years, more than 800 awards have been won, including Grand Prix and First Prizes at international film festivals in the USA, Japan, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Norway, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, Greece, Finland, Poland, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Slovakia, Georgia, Armenia, and others. The studio takes particular pride in its three Gold Medals from UNICA – the International Union of Cinema, operating under UNESCO.
These festivals attracted many talented children with their wonderful ideas. It is a GREAT, BRIGHT CELEBRATION! The studio’s students have produced over 600 animated films.
