In 2025, the Children’s Animation Studio “KROK” celebrates 41 years of creative activity — an important and landmark event for the entire animation community and for several generations of young artists.
The “KROK” Studio was founded in October 1984 by Yuriy Vsevolodovych Ivanov and Svitlana Yakivna Ivanova. Over the years, the studio has become a true center of creativity, development, and inspiration for children. More than 4,000 students have taken their first steps here into the world of animation, art, and cinema.
In 2003, the studio was awarded the honorary title of “People’s Art Collective,” recognizing its significant contribution to the development of children’s creativity and culture.
Students of the “KROK” Studio regularly participate in international film festivals, where their animated films compete on equal terms with works by adult directors and earn awards and jury recognition.
The festival experience inspired the studio’s leaders to create their own children’s animation festival, “KROK,” which brings together talented children from different countries around the world. The first festival, “KROK-1,” took place in Kyiv in 1987. The festival continued successfully in the following years:
- 1990 — “KROK-2”
- 1992 — “KROK-3”
- 1998 — “KROK-4”
- 1999 — “KROK-5”
Each festival became a grand, vibrant celebration of children’s animation, filled with bold ideas, creative discoveries, and lively interaction.
Over the years, the studio’s students have created more than 600 animated films, which are a true treasure of children’s animation.
